The BDSO was born from the desire and initiative of Lina Berada and Kosta Jakic to combine two fields: classical music and medicine. One heals the body, and the other heals the soul. Theodor Billroth, one of the founding fathers of modern abdominal surgery and a close friend of Brahms, once said:
"It is one of the superficialities of our time to see science and art as opposites; imagination is the mother of both."

This philosophy inspired us to organise our first concert at the prestigious Institut Bordet, an internationally renowned oncology centre, which welcomed us with open arms.
This concert is a unique opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of art and medicine as complementary fields.

By showcasing doctors and medical students who also cultivate their musical talents, this event helps break stereotypes and demonstrates that healthcare professionals are multifaceted individuals. It reinforces the idea that artistic creativity and medical compassion are two essential qualities that can be nurtured in parallel for overall well-being.
